This American Life is moving to NYC and making a version of the show for Showtime.
TAL & Ira Glass are simply amazing. I was worried it might mess with the formula of radio (I once ‘saw’ Ira talk in a pitch-black theater for 10 minutes and it was awesome) but I have confidence that they can make it work.
But if the shows are on Showtime, they won’t be free on the internet like the radio program, I guess? Damn. Well there’s always BitTorrent or iTunes.

In his weekly column called The Clicker, Stephen Speicher has an interesting take on Apple’s strategy for releasing a video enabled iPod without more content thant a few shows by ABC to back it up on the iTunes Music Store. He sees it as a device that will encourage piracy of TV and movies over BitTorrent driving the studios back to Apple willing to negotiate more acceptable terms for online distribution of their content. Check it out, it’s a fascinating read.

The Azureus Dashboard Widget, which happens to be my favorite third party widget, has just been updated to version 0.1.1. This release brings a few minor fixes (an unfortunately no new features). For those of you who aren’t sure what I’m talking about, this widget basically allows you to easily control Azureus, which is a BitTorrent client, from your Dashboard. The coolest thing however, is that you can use it to control computer over a network or the internet remotely manage your torrents. Mmm, torrents, good.
