‘Dragon Age’ Preview Bits
This is from back in November, but, all the same, new news about Dragon Age = instant tent-pole (or some virtual equivalent).

News-break: Firefly has been licensed for a MMO game.
While I want to be excited about this (it’s hard to argue with new Firefly…), but I can only see it ending really badly. The thing that made the show (& subsequently, the movie) awesome was the well written dialog and interaction between all the unique characters. All of this would inherently lost in a MMO. Yes, the futuristic western setting would still be there and makes an interesting premise for a game, but it doesn’t make it Firefly.
Oh well, the projects is years away in any case.
Update (12/11): More info on the project from Wired News.
Why does this trailer (25 MB H.264 file) for the Xbox 360 game Gears of War feature the music ‘Mad World‘ covered by Michael Andrews & sung by Gary Jules (but originally written by Roland Orzabal of ‘Tears for Fears’), which is most identified as the music from the ending credits of Donnie Darko?
Anyone?
Not that there’s something wrong with it… it the trailer looks fantastic and the music definitely sets the mood, but it still seems like a very odd choice for a trailer.
Update (11/12/06): Kottke, as usual it seems, has more info here.
I decided I want to upgrade to a MacBook so I’m selling my iBook.
I don’t know if the MacBook is really what I want since it doesn’t have a good graphics card to play games (with Boot Camp) but it’s such a tempting little machine (and one really needs a tower for games anyway). I’d rather have something smaller than a 13″ model, but there’s no indication that Apple is ever going to make a smaller laptop (if they do I might have to loose the MacBook).
…for Windows Vista only. WTF? What a bunch of money grubbing bastards trying to force people to upgrade like that. There’s absolutely no technical reason to do this. Also, by that time that Vista ships won’t Halo 3 be out for the 360…?
