Is Greenpeace Off the Mark on Apple?
Arik Hesseldahl has written a great article for Business Week titled Is Greenpeace Off the Mark on Apple?. It delves into the bizarre Greenpeace rankings that rated Dell much greener than Apple:
As of now, neither Apple nor Dell — nor Hewlett-Packard for that matter — is selling a single PVC- or BFR-free computer. So in truth, Greenpeace has graded Apple based on statements, not actions.
The article basically reflects what I’ve been saying for a long time: Greanpeace is just using Apple as a convenient target to get their own message out. Yes, I agree that computer manufacturers need to reduce the amount of dangerous chemicals used in their products, but singling out Apple while giving Dell and HP the pass is not the honest way to encourage change.
