NVinNYC

This is kind of an old video (it came out in July 2005, but the higher resolution version was unavailable until recently), but I still want to link to it because it’s the best music video I’ve ever seen… I’m not exaggerating here. You may not be a big fan of the music itself, but don’t say that the visuals and how they interact with the music (the two main points of a music video) aren’t the best you’ve seen.

This music video for the song ‘Only‘ by Nine Inch Nails. It’s directed by the venerable David Fincher. The video is mostly done in CG and features Trent Reznor appearing in a pin-impresion toy. Apparently, Fincher, always a master of the medium, had an entire team write a special CG animation routine to make this effect work.

Anyway, enough talk, you want to see the video. Well you could buy it from iTunes (but that costs money) or you could watch it on the NIN Website (but that’s not really a download and doesn’t work with an iPod). So really, the best option is to download it direct from NVinNYC (I’ve taken the liberty of re-encoding it to be iPod compatible, but you’ll need the latest firmware that’s built into iTunes 7 and up).
