Student of Fortune

A good friend of of mine just launched Student of Fortune. It’s a pretty neat idea where you can post a bounty on questions that you need answered for school homework & projects. You just pick the how much you’re willing to pay for the answer and post your question.

Basically, it works similar to Google Answers except with a much more academic bent because you can categorize a question with many different academic foci (though you are of course free to offer non-academic question bounties). The other difference that it has over Google is that anyone can answer a question (whereas Google only allows ‘carefully screened Researchers’ to capture the bounties). There are obvious benefits to each scheme, but in my experience SoF’s open system seems to be working pretty well.

Another thing that I really appreciate about SoF is that it doesn’t take itself too seriously. For example, when asking you for a title it reminds you not to use phrases like “OMG HELP ME PLZ KTHX!!!!’

So what are you waiting for? Got some assignment bugging you? Go ask Student of Fortune! Or strike it rich using your expertise in phallic symbolism in East Asian art to help someone out. Either/or really.
