Shut up Symantec, just pease shut up about Macs. I’m tired of your shit. Your company has less qualifications to write about Mac OS X security, or any other aspect of the OS for that matter, than anyone who’s written a program in Mac OS X. Your company hasn’t ever published a decent security product for Mac OS X. In fact, your products tend to cause more problems than they solve. This is something I know from personal experience while working behind the Genius Bar. For example, all of your programs, with the one exception of AntiVirus 10, cause problems on all versions of Mac OS 10.4. These problems range from general sluggishness to full lock ups forcing a hard reboot (pulling the plug). Since there are no viruses for Mac OS X as of the writing of this piece, but your programs cause numerous problems, I would say that the real security issue is your half-ass products. So from now on I don’t want to read fear-mongering press reports saying stuff like Mac users deluding themselves over security or describing Mac fans as living in a “false paradise”. Maybe you should stop letting your marketing department control your company and concentrate on making some decent products for Mac. Until then, just shut the fuck up about Macs.
